Student Film Festival

The Latin American Cinemateca of Los Angeles (LACLA) presents its 9th Annual Student Film Festival to be held in the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy Forum housed in the Japanese American National Museum on Sunday, 1 May 2016.

The festival will feature short films by students from various inner-city middle and high schools and media programs of the greater Los Angeles area to encourage and acknowledge the work by underrepresented youth. Students will have an opportunity to showcase their work in a public venue, while forming relationships with other young aspiring filmmakers. The festival, furthermore, serves to build a network for film and media youth instructors around guiding and creating opportunities for their students.

All participating students will receive a Certificate of Merit and a $25 stipend, in addition to a festival package (t-shirt, poster and program). Three students will be awarded prizes based on creativity, cohesion, technical merit, and overall impact.
